Description: This GunTec video introduces screw torque as an important component of the accurizing process. Larry Potterfield, Founder of MidwayUSA, explains why proper torque for guard and scope mounting screws is critical, and how to obtain exact, repeatable torque using the Wheeler Engineering FAT wrench. When rifles are assembled at the factory the guard screws are tightened to a specific amount of torque which is measured in inch pounds, typically around 60 inch pounds for bolt action rifles. The proper amount of torque is critical for establishing a repeatable relationship between the rifle components and its bedding in the stock. Then this setting is changed, either because of wear or just routine disassembly, that relationship is altered which can change the point of impact. By using the Wheeler Engineering FAT (Firearm Accurizing Tool) Wrench, you are guaranteed accurate, repeatable torque when reassembling your firearm.
